How do I get one of the cartoon pictures?
Everyone on yahoo answers has one of those cartoon characters for their "profile pictures." How do I get one?
To create/change a Yahoo cartoon avatar go here:
http://avatars.yahoo.com/
Then go to: http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my_edit , click "use my yahoo avatar" -> scroll down -> click "preview" and then "ok".
For all other picture avatars:
http://profiles.yahoo.com/ – go here to create a profile -> click "change photo" -> click "add photo" -> select the picture you want from your harddrive -> click "save". Now click "use selected photo", done.
Note: the pic has to be a .jpg or .png file, it must be smaller than 5 MB, and it also has to be square. And you should also keep your Pulse profile public, otherwise a personalized avatar won’t show.

a group said it was for Child abuse awareness! BUT those people were doing it so kids would add them because they look like a kid with a cartoon picture. Do Not Do This! Its not showing awareness to anything it is just a lie to add kids and get private information…. (stalkers) Its even on the news because this is a fraud! so be careful. I hope that helped

If you do mean anime, then I can tell you there are a few apps for anime pics, but I just download them off the Internet, since you pay for a majority of the other apps.
Why are so many people putting up cartoon pictures on facebook?
Like everyone has a cartoon picture in facebook. Not sure about myspace and twitter however.
Some people are saying the cartoon picture thing on Facebook was started by a group of pedophiles. I don’t think this is true. It is YOUR job as a parent to tell your children NOT to add people they don’t recognize on Facebook! Instead of pulling down others only trying to raise awareness for a cause. I think it is truly pitiful that some people are gullible enough to actually fall for this crap. Leave it to the ignoramuses to attack something as innocent as a childhood cartoon character.
Even though changing your profile pic to a character won’t help stop child abuse, at least it’s showing how many of us are AGAINST it.

I think you need to have a Yahoo Pulse account. Then you can customize an avatar on there and somehow link it to your yahoo answers account. Hope this helps.

HINT: To remember all the steps, print out a copy, or make a Notepad file to keep referring to as you follow the steps (Open the Notepad file in a tab, then minimize it as you work away)

There are many many choices in styles appearances and colors – you can save more than one choice. Remember to SAVE it. Select the picture (avatar), Click ‘use picture’, then Save and Exit. There are many choices to be made, but remember to save your final choice.

(I found mine on Google Images, but a search for specific other images would work too)
* Download a JPG image(s) and save to your computer (by right-clicking and Save as …)
* File it where you will remember the location. (Desktop is easiest at first.)
* Select the image you want to use, using Browse for files … and open (save) it.
Yahoo has set tight restrictions on the size of files allowed, (square, -5 MB) Be certain any photo is brightly lit, and a close-up.

* To activate this avatar on YA site: left click, in order:
… your current avatar or YA name
… ‘Edit My Info’ next to your avatar.
… browse and select which avatar you want to use.
… ‘Preview’ (bottom),

… select ‘Share my Picture’’ next to your avatar.

P.S.: Mine also shows up in the main Messenger program, because I used another technique. Open the Messenger, click Messenger tab > My Display Image > Share My Avatar. You could also use a picture here.
BONUS: The avatar will also appear in your Yahoo Mail too.

1st one for a pic, second for an avatar. Click on view my profile. Double click on your picture or avatar where it says change your picture.Box opens with options to upload a picture. Upload the picture from your computer, select it and you are done.
Go to edit my preferences at the top right of your home page. You will see a grey smiley marked get my avatar now. Click that and you can create your avatar on the page that opens.
